When socially responsible companies need specialized help connecting with values-oriented customers, they often turn to…a small, purpose-driven, brand engagement agency located in…wait…Boise, Idaho?

That’s exactly what happened recently when the 19th largest company on the Fortune 500, an ambitious social venture startup, and a food services giant approached Oliver Russell. These three organizations looked to our agency—a Certified B Corporation—to help tell their stories.

The new clients are Hewlett-Packard (HP), GoodWell, and Sodexo. Our assignments will entail branding and promoting responsible recycling initiatives, a member recruitment campaign built around sustainable shopping, and a new product launch for healthy snacks.

Here’s a quick hit on each, with case studies to come later when the work is complete and we have results to report:

Eco-friendly, Responsible Business: HP Planet Partners

Hp Planet

HP’s been committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR) for a long time, beginning its CSR program in the ‘50s.

Those who are truly in the know recognize HP as a global leader in sustainability. But because HP hasn’t beaten its chest about its commitment to these values, there really isn’t broad public awareness around its many CSR achievements.

As our clients say, it’s HP’s “best unheard story.”

That’s just the type of storytelling we love—an opportunity to engage people around an intentional story of quietly responsible business. We’ll be working with HP to brand, promote, and celebrate the 25th anniversary of its Planet Partners Program for supplies recycling. Tactics at this point include creating a brand identity, infographics, and social media marketing content.

Shop Sustainably with GoodWell

Goodwell

Pete Gombert is a lifelong technology entrepreneur who has made a career of building successful tech startups. With GoodWell, he’s setting his sights on rallying socially conscious consumers to use their purchasing power to create more demand for products and services from responsible, ethical companies.

It revolves around this simple, but compelling, question: How do you decide which companies deserve your money?

We love that; the notion that companies must deserve our money in order to earn it.

Pete’s idea is to build a community of one million consumers who want to shop sustainably, and create a certification program that makes it easy for them to recognize and reward responsible businesses and good companies with their shopping dollars.

Oliver Russell will be developing a content marketing strategy and educational digital video content to help recruit consumers to the online GoodWell community.

Food Packaging for Healthier Snacks: Mindful by Sodexo

Sodexo

Sodexo serves millions of meals each year through its food services operations in the United States. Its commitment to a strong CSR program and healthy environments extends all the way to the plate, where it’s working to provide more healthy and nutritious foods.

At the forefront of this effort is Mindful by Sodexo, an approach designed for its cafes that emphasizes transparent ingredients, satisfying portions, and flavorful food.

Sodexo discovered Oliver Russell through an online search and found our award-winning packaging design for Starkey Spring Water. They also were attracted to our experience building purpose-driven brands. We’ll put our minds to work for Mindful on this assignment by generating brand names and creating packaging design for a new line of energy bars and cookies.

The Power of Purpose

The good news here is that our positioning is resonating with new clients. These organizations are looking to secure high-caliber performance from like-minded companies that are trying to create social impact with their business models.
