As a brand design company of a slightly different stripe, we’re happy to report that our intentional focus on building brands for purpose-driven companies and organizations is enabling us to put our talents to work on new endeavors across the spectrum of purpose.
(For clarification on our definition of “purpose-driven,” it’s social entrepreneurs who have a product, service, or business model that benefits society or the environment.)
We’ve added four new clients to our corporate social responsibility marketing portfolio so far this summer, and they further deepen our experience in food and nutrition, healthy living, and natural resources. Here’s a little bit about each group and the work we’ll be doing for them.
Eat Smart Idaho is partnering with the HEAL (Healthy Eating Active Living) Network of Idaho to develop a new brand identity and messaging to educate Idahoans about healthy nutrition and living, with a primary interest on bringing new education to lower-income groups and Hispanics. We’ll be creating the brand and laying the groundwork for a coordinated statewide advertising and outreach campaign in the future. We’ll also be providing social media strategy and social media marketing for Eat Smart Idaho.
We’ve got a strong interest in developing branding and marketing for healthy living initiatives and food, and this broadens the experience we have for organizations such as the YMCA, Tomato Independence Project, Treasure Valley Food Coalition, Idaho’s Bounty Cooperative, and Whole Foods Market
A skateboarder at the old Rhodes Park.
So here’s a gnarly one—website development for theBoise Skateboard Association to promote a cool, new skateboarding park in downtown Boise. The new Rhodes Park will renovate a decades-old park into a state-of-the-art, $1.25 million skate destination designed byGrindline of Seattle, WA, buoyed by community fundraising, support from the City of Boise, and a big boost from the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation. (It even includes Parkour elements.) Rhodes will be a safe place for recreation and will foster growth and learning in the skating community. The new site and the park will both launch in early 2016.
Cue the poop jokes, right? Wrong—this one’s all about marketing clean technology and innovation. The City of Boise is a leader among municipalities nationally in the management of wastewater, and as we all know with drought conditions around the country, water is an increasingly precious commodity.
Beyond science, technology, and sharp people, the City of Boise’s innovation also flows from its Boise WaterShed Environmental Education Center, a public-private partnership at the West Boise Wastewater Treatment Plant that has contributed to a 25% drop in water consumption since opening in 2008.
We’re going to help the City of Boise with brand identity development and sustainability marketing for that message so that our community can make even better use of our water resources. We’ll be helping develop a new brand, including renaming the department (there’s no such thing as waste- or wasted water, right?), as well as designing an integrated marketing campaign to educate the community about our role in preserving and extending our water resource. This adds to our water experience at the other end—okay, a pun, I couldn’t resist—designing consumer packaged branding for Starkey Spring Water.
Through a body of research, we know that oral health has strong connections to overall wellness. For a not insignificant segment of the population, this is a hurdle—people with anxiety about visiting the dentist, ranging from mildly sweat-inducing to near-paralysis, which keeps them from visiting the dentist and taking care of their oral health. The Idaho Center for Sedation Dentistry, as the name suggests, aims to eliminate this barrier, and we’ll be developing a new brand, website, and an integrated marketing campaign to generate awareness for this solution. We also recently designed and implemented a cause-marketing campaign for its associated dentistry practice, Boise Family Dental.
